The EU LGBTIQ Equality Strategy 2020–2025 envisions a Europe “where everyone is free to be themselves”.
Developed by the European Commission, this strategy drives progress through four key pillars:
- Tackling Discrimination – addressing hate crimes, workplace inequality, and institutional bias.
- Ensuring Safety – protecting individuals from hate speech and gender-based violence.
- Building Inclusive Societies – promoting equality in education, health, culture, and sport.
- Leading the Call for Equality Globally – strengthening international cooperation and diplomacy for LGBTIQ rights.
The strategy also calls on EU Member States to enhance non-discrimination laws, improve legal gender recognition, and adopt national LGBTIQ action plans.
