eduRoma - Roma Education Project - občianske združenie

Biography

eduRoma is an educational non-governmental organization established in 2012with the vision of building an inclusive society. We believe that the key tool to achieve this is quality education and fair access to it. Our activities are implemented through several programs:

  • O krok pokrok (Step by Step Forward) – a field program working in schools across Slovakia. We support children and young people from marginalized communities and provide training for teachers, youth workers, and professionals in helping roles.
  • IncluNETWORK – an advocacy program that connects actors in the field of inclusion. We create a space for mutual exchange, learning, and the development of new initiatives leading to social inclusion and active civic participation of people from marginalized communities.
  • De Facto – a media program focused on fostering critical thinking and understanding among the general public. We promote tolerance and respect toward minorities and vulnerable groups. Within this program, we have been awarding the Ray of Light from the Darkness prize since 2018 and, since 2021, publishing the minority online magazine Romano fórum.

In addition to these core programs, we also focus on:

  • research, analytical, and pedagogical activities that bring insights from social and human sciences in order to support the right to quality and non-segregated education,
  • organizing material and financial collections, providing humanitarian and educational assistance, as well as social counselling for communities affected by poverty,
  • supporting educational, artistic, and cultural-social activities that strengthen an inclusive society in Slovakia,
  • publishing and editorial activities, including the creation and distribution of print and online magazines aimed at improving the status of minorities in Slovakia.
