Materia Group was founded in 2000 in Nicosia, Cyprus. It is a pioneering provider of integrated health, care, rehabilitation, and educational services. The company is dedicated to enhancing the social participation, lifelong learning, and quality of life of older adults and other vulnerable populations. Materia is a multidisciplinary social enterprise that offers a broad spectrum of services. These include nursing and medical collaboration, psychosocial and cognitive support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, neuropsychological evaluations, recreational and cultural activities, and educational courses. Materia primarily targets individuals aged 55 and above.
Materia operates through a variety of service models, including residential care, day care, home care, outpatient care and telecare, ensuring flexible and inclusive support for individuals both in and out of the community.
Materia is a certified training centre recognised by the Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority (ANAD), and has provided a wide array of training seminars to young professionals in healthcare, family caregivers, and migrant groups. These programs cover crucial areas such as health and safety, psychoeducation, management of challenging behaviours, and essential care skills. The organisation maintains a team of accredited trainers with varied professional backgrounds and qualifications.
Since 2014, Materia has been home to a dedicated Applied Research and Development Department, employing a growing team of professionals focused on innovation in social care, education, and technology. The organisation has considerable experience in coordinating and participating in EU-funded initiatives, including Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, AAL, Eurostars and EEA Grants. Materia’s expertise lies in research design, data analysis, curriculum development, ethical compliance, impact evaluation and dissemination. They have a proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
