Celebrating Romani Culture at festival KHAMORO 2025!

From May 25 to 31, Prague came alive with the 27th edition of Khamoro – the world’s largest Roma festival – blending music, art, film, and courageous conversations in a powerful celebration of Roma identity.

Organized by Slovo 21, z.s. and Studio Production Saga, with the support of our member ARA ART and under the patronage of Czech Minister of Culture Mgr. Martin Baxa and Government Commissioner for Roma Minority Affairs Mgr. Lucie Fuková, Khamoro 2025 welcomed thousands of visitors in a vibrant showcase of Roma creativity and resilience.

✨ Over its 26-year history, more than 270 bands from 40 countries have performed at the festival, which annually attracts around 10,000 guests.

-This year’s highlights included:

-The high-energy Khamoro Party with Tessie, Ritmo Gitano, and Thomas

-The Czech premiere of “Chaplin: Spirit of the Tramp”, a documentary directed by his granddaughter – unveiling Charlie Chaplin’s little-known Roma roots

-The “Speak Out Loud” mini-conference, where the first Czech study on domestic violence in Roma communities was revealed

Traditional concerts featuring Balkan brass, Russian Roma songs, and – for the first time in the festival’s nearly 30-year history – Roma performers from Greece, alongside artists from Italy, Spain, Hungary, France, and Serbia

Khamoro showed once again that culture is a powerful tool to challenge prejudice and inspire inclusion.

🗨️ As Nikolas Ferenc said: “Khamoro is not only about music.”

It is about visibility, resistance, and pride.

We are proud to stand with ARA ART and all our members and partners in supporting platforms that uplift Roma voices and promote human rights across Europe.
